What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a safe, intelligent exercise modality known to help you move, look, and feel your very best. You will gain body awareness, Improve posture, develop grace and ease of movement. Practicing Pilates also improves pain symptoms, range of motion, stability, agility and movement efficiency. My studio is fully equipped with Pilates Apparatus to help us perform the repertoire correctly and efficiently.
Pilates is for EVERYONE. No matter your age, fitness level, body type or gender.
I teach Pilates from a somatic, trauma, and nervous system informed lens based on the poly-vagal theory.
To spare a long explanation, this means addressing your whole being. This means slowing down and focusing on your inner experience during Pilates. When we DO NOT do this, our bodies might only benefit from the practice during the session… but shortly after, the brain sends signals that bring your body right back to the initial, painful state. Somatic Pilates can help you get out of that loop.
There is so much more to Pilates than hyper-focusing on muscles alone. They will get what they need to be authentically fit when you learn how to focus on movement from a bio-intelligent place. It will be fun, energizing, relaxing, nourishing and will cultivate lasting changes to your inner and your outer being.
Benefits of Somatically focused Pilates:
Improved Postural and overall tone
Improved range of motion
Improved sensory awareness which lends to increased nervous system regulation and better physiological responses to pain, stress and anxiety
Heightened proprioception
Heightened body awareness
Improved agility, balance, stability, coordination
Heightened strength & resilience
Your guide to movement that creates lasting change, both inside and out.
You will learn how your approach to movement can improve the state of your nervous system as well as your relationship with yourself, others & the world around you.
